Everyone starts yoga for different reasons, but the reason we stick with it is the same: After a yoga class, we feel better than we did before. My name is Kendra and I’m a very, very busy single mum! I’ve also managed to keep up a regular yoga practice for the last 3 years. I’m sharing my story in hopes of inspiring you to the yoga mat, no matter how little time you think you have for it and how impossible you think it is to practice yoga as a busy mum.
That’s because yoga is so much more than stretching and getting toned – and the busier your life is, the more you need yoga in your life!
From Instagram-worthy poses to being a better mum
Like most, I first stepped on the mat to get fit and toned, quietly dreaming of the day I’d be able to strike an Instagram-worthy yoga pose. But after a few classes, my reasons for returning to the mat slowly changed.
I loved how calm I felt after class. I was sitting up straighter, more patient with my son and more focused at work. I realised that yoga was helping me be the best version of myself. And I wasn’t the only one who noticed – my friends and family did too.
As a single mum the most important thing in my world is my son, and doing yoga was making me a better mum. But there was a problem – with a schedule like mine, between my full-time job and being a mum to Harry (and our two cats), finding the time to squeeze in classes and the money to pay for babysitting felt impossible.
It sounds cliché, but everything changed when I discovered Yogaia 3 years ago. I started with a 7-day free trial on the Yogaia App, and haven’t looked back since. Their quality of yoga teachers is incredible and having direct access to them in live classes has allowed me to develop my yoga practice – all from the comfort and convenience of my living room floor!

Doing yoga at home is definitely more convenient, but staying motivated is still a challenge. Here are my top 3 tips for keeping up a home yoga routine:
3 Tips To Maintain A Regular Home Yoga Routine
- If you’re in doubt, just open up the app, flick through and start with a short 10-15 min practice. That’s enough! Chances are, you’ll feel like doing another once you’re in the flow.
- The reality of doing yoga at home is you will most likely be interrupted, whether it’s your pets, your kids or your own thoughts! The great thing about recorded classes is you can pause and come back to the class, anytime. Don’t beat yourself up about it and accept that interruptions are just part of life – especially with kids around.
- Don’t give up if you don’t enjoy your first class. Keep trying different teachers and classes until you find what resonates with you! Explore Yogaia’s amazing Live Schedule.
The truth is, yoga has absolutely changed my life. And Yogaia was fundamental helping me fit yoga into my busy life.
Download the Yogaia App now and start with a 7-day free trial – it’s a no-brainer! And don’t forget to check out Yogaia’s 15X15: Healthy Habit Challenge to kickstart your 2018.
